The other day I was on Women Wear Daily's website and I caught a snipet of an article saying that Vera Wang will be designing a line for Kohl's department store called "Very Vera," or something to that effect. See Below:
NEW YORK — After a courtship of almost two years, Vera Wang has finally said "I do" to Kohl's Corp.
The designer and Kohl's said Wednesday that they will team up to create a premium fashion and lifestyle brand called Very Vera by Vera Wang, which will be available at more than 900 Kohl's moderate department stores and kohls.com beginning in fall 2007.
My first reaction to this news was shock and sadness. Vera Wang is known for her beautiful and prestigious wedding dresses. It seems like she is selling-out if she is starting to design for Kohl's department store. Why? Why? I am worried that it will taint her name instead of raising the brand image of Kohl's. What does everyone think about this news?

Kohls? Never heard of it.
(But seriously- these cheapie lines are good for when you're broke if you don't mind re-sewing the entire garment after one wear. Shame on you, Vera- whore of the wedding lifestyle industry. Wait. Let me re-phrase that, "Hey Vera- WHORE!") -

Re: Wang to Design for Kohl's
Sat, August 26, 2006 - 7:07 AMKohl's is the best thing to come out of Wisconsin since, well, since Kohl's. It's like a cross between Target and a clean K-Mart. I get all my Levi's from kohls.com. I'm not sure if they have them in the Bay Area, which is why you might not have heard of them Miss Erika. Last I heard, Kohl's was the most profitable department store chain in the country. It makes sense that they're starting to court "designers" like Target (Todd Oldham, Mizrahi, Paul & Joe). Vera Wang has nothing to lose and everything to gain. She's really only known for Oscar dresses and wedding dresses that not many women can afford. She's famous but probably not having too much sales volume, so she gets more publicity for the brand and also gets the licensing $$$. -

Re: Wang to Design for Kohl's
Wed, August 30, 2006 - 12:07 PMwe have a Kohl's here in the Bay Area - it's at the old K-Mart location in Colma. it's been there for a while now, i've never been - i may go now, just to see what it's about! i like Target especially now that they are bringing in low priced designer lines. i do go and check those out; i just scored a perfect fitting pair of Tara Jarmon jeans for $5.99 (i'm not kidding) and i did buy two Paul & Joe shirts that were really cute!
i do think Vera Wang and Kohl's is a bad decision, she should've teamed up with H&M like Stella did or Anthropologie (i could totally see her stuff in there).
